Dr. Brendan Shanahan was born and raised in Rochester, Michigan. He graduated with honors from Michigan State University with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Life University with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
Dr. Brendan’s interest in the human body began at a very young age, as he was heavily involved in sports and was always drawn to healthcare as a career choice. His interest of the human body continued through high school and into college where he discovered a proactive approach to health through principled chiropractic care. Dr. Brendan grew up with childhood asthma and he took prescription medications to cope with allergies, however at the young age of 12, he found himself questioning the medical model. He knew there was a better way to health and did not believe that taking drugs was the answer. It was through subluxation based, principled chiropractic care that allowed his body to heal from the inside and he ultimately quit using his inhaler and got off all prescription medications. Today he does not have asthma and it was at that point that Dr. Brendan knew he was going to be a chiropractor.
Dr. Brendan participated in a chiropractic mission trip to Jamaica through Spinal Missions serving the masses with complimentary chiropractic care, as mission work has always been a passion of his. Dr. Brendan has also had extensive education in extremity adjusting and numerous hours of education in pediatric and maternal adjusting techniques.
Dr. Thomas Madigan grew up in Lake Orion, MI. From a very young age he was always concerned with helping people, so it was only natural for him to pursue a career in a healthcare field. After graduating from Lake Orion High School he went on to study at Western Michigan University, and graduated with honors with a bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Madigan, from the beginning of his college career wanted to go to dental school, but after a conversation with his uncle he soon realized that he needed a plan B. He looked into chiropractic, and went on a visit to Life University in Marietta, GA. After his visit, and his first taste of chiropractic, he knew that this was the career for him. He enrolled at Life University in spring 2012 and never looked back.
A couple quarters into his career at Life, Dr. Madigan’s father was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. After a year of taking the holistic approach to health with dieting, juicing, exercise and most importantly, chiropractic, his father soon found out that his cancer was in remission. His body was in a state of Optimal Health, and was able to heal on its own from the inside-out the way it was made to do. This is when Dr. Madigan knew for sure that his decision to become a Doctor of Chiropractic was the right one. “The human body is an amazing self-healing and self-regulating machine, and when put in the most optimal environment, an environment free of nerve interference, it can do and achieve anything.”
Drs. Brendan Shanahan and Thomas Madigan’s background
Drs. Brendan Shanahan and Thomas Madigan both enrolled at Life University in the spring of 2012. They did not know each other at the time, but on the third day of class they were assigned to groups of four for an ice breaker activity. As their group of four introduced themselves they quickly realized they grew up just 15 minutes apart. During both of their high school careers, they played competitive sports against each other, hung out in similar areas, and knew similar people, yet they had never met until that day. It was at that moment they became great friends and began studying with each other almost everyday. Two quarters later, they became roommates and the vision of opening a practice and working together to change the way their community viewed health began. It is now their goal to serve and help as many families as possible to achieve Optimal Health through Principled Subluxation-Based chiropractic care.
